Rarity	Divine

The rod in the Equipments panel: +38.47K attack damage, +30 luck, rarity Divine.

How do you get the Zen Staff Rod?

1. Unlock Fossil Island: 15,000,000 Coins and three heavy fish from Volcanic Island. Details are in the islands table.
2. Find the NPC. From the entrance, walk to the pile of bones, then straight on to the foot of the tree. He stands there, and his name tag reads Fei Tian. Two creators describe the same route.
3. Accept the quest.
4. Catch five Legendary fish on this island, and land the finishing blow on each with Taiji Hooking V2. A Legendary finished with any other skill does not count. Thay Tam Gaming had a dozen Legendary fish in his bag and the counter still read 4 of 5 for that reason.
5. Hand in 5,000,000 Coins.

The quest tracker words it as “Legendary final blows at Fossil Island (Island 6) with Taiji Hooking Art V2: 5/5” and “Coins: 5,000,000”.

How do you get Taiji Hooking V2?

In game the skill bar spells it Taiji Hooking Art V2. It is a quest upgrade, not a roll. On Snow Island an NPC up the mountain asks you to (Reported by three creators):

• finish 100 fish with Taiji Hooking, the V1 skill you roll at the Skill Master;
• hand over a second Taiji Hooking book that has never been attached to a rod;
• pay 1,000,000 Coins.

So you need two copies of the book. If you roll a second one, do not attach it. V2 is reported at 160x damage; see the skills list.

How strong is it?

Takami_Cat and Thay Tam Gaming both show 38,470 power. Takami_Cat’s panel reads +38.47K attack damage, +30 luck and the rarity Divine. Thay Tam compares it with the Bamboo Rod’s 21,150 on the same screen, close to double. With one Legendary skill he recorded a single cast at 5,000,000 damage.

Takami_Cat tests it on a Legendary fish from Fossil Island with 22,000,000 health. One use of his V2 skill takes off almost 6,000,000, about a quarter of the bar.

For scale, the Dread Fish Rod is reported at 52,000, and the Crimson Bead Rod at about 11,000.

Can you skip the other Fossil Island rod?

Yes, according to Thay Tam Gaming, who went straight to this one because he already had V2. The third rod on the island costs five Legendary fish and 5,000,000 Coins with no skill condition. Its name is not legible in the captions. One creator’s rod list has a Heaven Piercer Turtle Rod between the Legacy Rod and the Zen Staff Rod, which may be this one; we have not seen its quest.

What we do not know yet

• How mastery scales. One creator’s Zen Staff Rod shows “Lv. 42, Mastery 471/3,751” with four skills attached. On a fresh one, three of the four skill slots are locked until rod level 8, 16 and 20.
• The exact position of the NPC in map terms; the route above is a spoken description.
• Whether prices changed in the October 2 update.

Where to go next

The last rod is the Dread Fish Rod, which needs a Mythical fish. While you wait for one, bosses pay Gems for more rolls: see the 12 boss spawn points.
