White Tiger Race (Fishing Master): Quest Location and Buffs

How do you get the White Tiger race?

Every character starts as Human. Press 4 on PC to see your race in the stats panel.

1. Unlock Desert Island. Costs are in the islands table.
2. Go behind the pyramid and climb to the NPC.
3. Accept the quest. His name tag reads Old Wu, with the title White Tiger Guardian, and the race is called the White Tiger Soul. The “View Soul buffs” button previews the buffs before you commit. The quest reads: “Unlock Island 3 and bring 3 Legendary fish caught there, each weighing at least 1,000 kg.”
4. Catch three Legendary fish on Desert Island, each weighing at least 1,000 kg. Legendary fish from Jungle Island do not count.
5. Hand them in.

How long does it take?

That depends on the pity counter. After 50 manual catches on an island, the next fish is guaranteed Legendary or better. Thành Tấn, who filmed the quest, says he needed the full 50 almost every time and puts a lucky run at “about 4 in 50”. Weight is the second hurdle, since a Legendary under 1,000 kg does not count.

What do you get?

The buff screen lists three lines:

• +10% Movement Speed
• +5% Extra Skill Damage for Eighteen Fish Slaying Hook Arts
• +5% Extra Skill Damage for I Ching Twelve Hook Arts

That settles what three creators had described in three different ways while talking over the panel. The bonus goes to two schools, 5% each. Eighteen Fish Slaying Hook Arts covers 17 of the 20 documented skills, including every Common one. We have no skill on record from I Ching Twelve Hook Arts yet.

What should you watch out for?

Snow Island, the next gate, also costs three Legendary fish from Desert Island, though at any weight. That is six Legendary fish from one island if you want both. The practical order from Thay Tam Gaming: lock every Legendary you catch, give the ones over 1,000 kg to this quest, and keep the lighter ones for the gate.

You can also hold only one quest at a time. Take this one before you accept the Snow Island unlock, or the other way round.

Is there a better race later?

There are at least three more race quests, one each on islands four, five and six. Thay Tam Gaming skips the island-four race and calls the island-five one stronger. That race is the Azure Dragon, which adds luck and fish value in place of movement speed. Which one suits you depends on what you are farming for, and we do not rank them.

What we do not know yet

• Which skills belong to I Ching Twelve Hook Arts.
• Whether you can switch back to this race after taking another. A creator shows re-equipping a race at its NPC for the Azure Dragon; we assume it works the same here but have not seen it.
